Research and Statistics

 The association gathers data through the distribution of surveys among its members and various industry partners. Local results are compared with regional and worldwide trends on similar statistics, such as hotel occupancy and room availability, as well as costs of doing business including taxes, licenses, employment, suppliers, construction, and relevant findings. SHTA acts as a clearinghouse by making data, reports and conclusions available to its members.

SHTA continues to advocate the need for accurate and timely visitor statistics. The data is to be collected at St. Maarten points of entry (airport/harbor) and should include visitor demographics and marketing information.
